The Iliad for Boys and Girls, Told From Homer in Simple Language (New York: The Macmillan Company, 1929), by Alfred John Church
If you're looking for a hard copy at the library, according to the catalogue, there are several copies at different locations. Here's a link!
So, for the assignment: Please read the first three chapters (down to "The Duel of Paris and Menelaus"). And don't forget to post a comment on who your favorite character is so far and why! (I know... it might be hard at this point, since you don't know much about them yet, but be creative!)
See you guys Thursday!

hey, do we have a grammar assignment?
hey, are we suppose to read the the quarrel and stop there or is that where we start?
no grammar assignments till the books arrive, but I will be giving a short lesson at the beginning of class on Thursday.
and also, I've changed the assignment to read down to "The Dual" instead of "The Quarrel"... they sounded so close! :) sorry about that!
I guess Menelaus would have to be my favorite character so far because he is pretty much the only person that hasn't stolen a woman yet!!!
achilles-the bravest and strongest of all the greeks...but I don't like his mother very much... = )
My favorite character is Achilles, due to his bravery and hubristic attitude.
But Zeus is a toad.
i think odysseus is my favorite character because he is such a good leader and he is very courageous.
paris is just rediculous
ok guys....
its a lot easier to find which character is your least favorite than your favorite.
Just for the sake of being contrary, I'll throw Paris out as my beloved character. Hector is actually my favorite but since he hasn't shown up yet, his wretch of a brother will have to do.
Mi favoite carecter is dat sertain Cing of Sparta hoo was da father of helen. Because wit out him dis story wood not of hapend.

Anyways, my favorite character be nestor. Because he seems to be the only person who's got any sense.
I like Achilles, just because he seems like a beast, and he's really strong.
